Clinical Applications

Registration in
Interventional Radiology

Speed and accuracy of any imaging tool are critical during the course of an image guided procedure. IGI Technologies strives to provide the fastest and most accurate fully automated image registration solution for these kinds of scenarios. By bringing preoperative images and data on top of the most up to date on board images, procedures will get faster and more effective, improving patient care and hospital throughputs.

Registration in Radiation Oncology

Radiation oncology use two distinct image sets: high quality, high resolution images for planning the treatment and the quick, low resolution images. Registration of and between images from these two sets can lead to a variety of clinically meaning information including monitoring actual dose delivered to a patient. With a new registration problem created from each new treatment day (of which their can be many), the throughput of the image registration solution is critical to keeping up with the demands of a radiation oncology department.

Registration in Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic Radiology covers a great range of images to be interpreted by clinicians and offers many opportunities for useful registration scenarios. One new example is PET/MR registration. PET can show metabolic activity in the body (such as malignant tumors) and MR shows soft tissue detail. Combining the two can provide a rich picture of what tissues are potentially harmful to the body. But building a PET and MR scanner is a complex and expensive endevor with each component in the PET having to accommodate the metal sensitive nature of MR scanners. With IGI Tech, radiologists are able to achieve PET/MR registration automatically with existing images.
